Osmanthus Absolute is a concentrated natural aroma ingredient made from the flowers of Osmanthus fragrans.
Osmanthus is renowned for its distinctive apricot-like floral scent, and the main harvest is concentrated between September and early October. The fresh flowers are first solvent-extracted into Osmanthus Concrete, which is then further extracted with ethanol to obtain the Absolute.

Only 5–10 Days of Flowering
The main osmanthus harvest season is concentrated between September and early October. Each flowering period usually lasts only about 5–10 days, so the fresh flowers must be harvested intensively within this limited window. As a result, the raw material supply for Osmanthus Absolute is clearly seasonal, and bulk purchases should be planned in advance based on the season’s flower availability and production schedule.
Fresh Flowers Preserved in Salt Water
After harvest, the fresh osmanthus flowers can be preserved in salt water for about 3–4 months before moving on to cleaning and extraction. This handling method allows the intensively harvested autumn flowers to enter downstream processing without completing the entire extraction within the short flowering period. Approx. 500–667 kg Flowers for 1 kg Concrete
The yield of Osmanthus Concrete from fresh osmanthus flowers is only about 0.15–0.2%. Based on this theoretical yield, producing 1 kg of Osmanthus Concrete requires approximately 500–667 kg of fresh osmanthus flowers, and the Concrete must then go through further ethanol extraction to obtain the final Osmanthus Absolute.
From Fresh Flowers to Osmanthus Absolute
Our Osmanthus Absolute production starts from fresh osmanthus flowers. After cleaning, the flowers are extracted with petroleum ether, followed by washing, clarification, and concentration. Process data shows that atmospheric concentration is controlled at a maximum of about 70°C, after which filtration and vacuum concentration yield the Crude Concrete. Further solvent removal gives Osmanthus Concrete, which is then extracted with ethanol to obtain the final Osmanthus Absolute.

Its aroma comes from an actual Osmanthus fragrans flower extract, not from a fragrance oil compounded to imitate the scent of osmanthus.
